I had the same thought about the insurance companies myself. I've never used it on any of my previous cars, but go figure, twice within 10 months on the same wheel. Imagine if you damaged a wheel. That would be big bucks. For those that are tight on money when specing their car I would recommend forgoing an extra option and buy the insurance.
