That's really strange. I'd have the shop check to make sure there's no defect in the pad or rotor.

I've got 16,600 miles on mine, including 14 hard track days, and on Sunday I had the brake pad wear indicator alert on my on-board while on the track. Scared the **** out of me, as I couldn't read what the alert was while in a fast pack of 914-6's on the track and was concerned about a hydraulic failure while at speed. After exiting the track and reading the alert, I did a visual, and my pads were all at least 4-5/16 thick, so I got back on. The alert stayed on for the next 20 min run, recurring after starting the car and applying the brakes, but after that session, the alert went away and hasn't come back.

Gonna have my brakes done this week, but I don't think this is the best way to alert the driver. How about the OBD-2 keeping the alert and notifying each time you START the car, while you're stationary and can read it!
