24th ANNUAL DEUTSCHE MARQUE CONCOURS , MAY 6, 2007

In keeping with long tradition the Founder's Region Concours program starts with the "Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance", our biggest car show event of the year. But this year our show will be at a NEW Fairfax County Park location known as the "Turner Farm" in Great Falls, Va. So all those gleaming Porsches, Mercedes, Bimmers and Audis will have to take a scenic Sunday drive out twisty Georgetown Pike to the intersection at Springvale Road where the Turner Farm is located. (see full directions below)
Each of the 4 clubs will again organize their own concours event and arrange for judges. The Porsche part of the show will again be a "Top-Only"concours--meaning no one will be peeking under your fender wells or checking your tranny!. Only those entering the "Concours" class will be judged, and scoring will be based on cleanliness and the overall appearance of interior, exterior, engine and trunk compartments. There will also be a "Wash & Shine" (people's choice) category for those lacking the clean-freak gene! (By the way, our rain date is Sun, June 3 at Turner Farm)

The various concours chairmen will again be finding "classy" trophies and as in the past these will be presented at a very nice Wine & Cheese reception in the afternoon under our club pavilion tents. The tab for this fabulous show is still $25 per car if registered by April 21st, but it will cost you $35 per car if you register after that date, or just show up at the gate. Registration fee includes one Wine & Cheese reception ticket; additional tickets are available at $10 each. Children under the age of 12 attend free. There is no charge for spectators. We hope to have a vendor to handle lunchtime, but this is still in the planning stage.
The four clubs also wish to express their appreciation for the support to this year's show of several wonderful sponsors with whom many of you may already be quite familiar. These include Curry's Auto Service: www.curysauto.com, Protective Film Technology: www.pftfilms.com, and FunktionAuto: www.funktionauto.com.
Anticipated categories and classes are:
CONCOURS CLASSES
(1) 356s: ALL
(2) Early 911s: 1966 - 1990
(3) Late 911s: 1991 - 2007
(4) Eclectic Class 1966 + (Includes Boxsters, 928s, 924s, 944, etc and specialty/outlaws cars)
(5) Best of Marque (Highest total points in the Concours category regardless of class)
Wash & Shine (People's Choice balloting)
(1) 356s ALL
(2) Coupes (ALL less 356s)
(3) Open Cars (ALL less 356s)
There will also be a Best of Show award regardless of Category as determined by the judges and the Concours Chair.
I am looking for judges and helpers and we will need more volunteers than usual for registration and car placing and reception set-up and take-down because of the new lay out. The area is much bigger than we have had in the past and we are having to provide our own tables, chairs and pop-up tents which will take more hands. In addition, due to the location at Georgetown Pike and some advertising, we expect many more spectators than in prior years. But we will have the space for spectator parking, so as long as we have plenty of helpers this should work out just fine.
So please let me know if you are interested. Last year's judges/helpers did a fantastic job and made this event run like clock-work. So if you would like to help judge, place cars, tally up score sheets, etc, please contact Concours Chair Ron Davis at concours@pcapotomac.org or at
(703) 280-4561.
