winter wheel /tire set up
Ordered my Caymanin Dec, seal gray, preferred +, and chrono forApril delivery. This is my 1st real Porsche (had a 914) I live in rural South Dakota ( 1 stop light and 5 females of child bearing age in the county) and will drive this car a lot. Past autos, Vette, SLK, TT .(all had over 150k miles within 3 years)Lessons learned, fiberglass does strange things at high speeds and -30 below, all convertibles leak cold air, 4 wheel drive works best with winter tires and light weight wheels with low profile tires disintegrate even at moderate speeds at -40 below. Other autos, S10, Sub, Taurus, all E85 cars. I canbuy E85 in bulk for $1.50 per gallon which I use in theseautos I drive one of these when the weather is really bad ( 6 inches of snow or more) or I need to haul something or go hunting. Other wise it will be the Cayman.
I need your advice on a winter tire/wheel combination that is some what bullet proof, it is 250 miles to the nearest Porsche Dealership. I would like to use 235's all around as the wider rear tires cause handling issues on rutted gravel roads,I can also rotate them for longer tread life. Any ideas?
