Keeping this database on an enthusiast site provides tangible evidence and, just as important, kind of a friendly, chronic, annoying, poke in the ribs to Porsche by saying "You guys make awesome cars.... BUT, we know there's a problem with the clutch and we're keeping score. You best square your sh*t away if you want the volume turned down."

or something like that.
Exactly. This is what I had in mind in creating the threads. I am hoping to accomplish two things.
  1. Show potnetial buyers that the list of effected cars is pretty small relative to the number of cars on the road.
  2. Show Porsche that the list of effected cars is too long despite it's relatively small percentage.
It might be hard to have my cake and eat it too, but either way this goes, we all win.

Other benefits to documenting these failures:
  1. We will have a nice clean thread to point dealer service managers to when they say, "Slave cylinders never fail. We just need to bleed it."
  2. Other new owners who are unfortunate enough to experience this can find an instant support group and lots of valuable information.
