Okay here are the dyno runs before and after the
capristo install this week. This is on a stock CS without other perfonmance mods.
The stock and the
capristo (open valves) were run three times each in 3rd gear. Is there a difference? Yes... about 20hp on average mainly at the top end, but there was a consistent difference in the mid-range area as well. Hearing protection is certainly required. You feel it in your gut around 90 mph, and by 124... ah... it's like loud eh?
Test for valves open vs valves closed was run in 4th.
There was
no appreciable difference between valves open and valves closed on the dyno runs.
The 1st attachment has the 3 stock runs.
The 2nd attachment shows the three
Capristo runs (valve open) and an overlap of valve open and valve closed runs (runs 7 and 8...the 4th gear lines that run to higher speeds).
Attachment 3 shows an overlay of a stock and a
Capristo run.
Some of us seem to have CS's that run around 4-5 hp higher than the rest. That was seen on a dyno day a while back and mine also seems to have started out at about 300 as opposed to 295, even given a correction fudge. Everything is relative though.
Oh, while the stock and the
Capristo runs were done on different days, the correction only differs by half a percent.
