Some folks plan to drive a car for a long time -- others just drive it until change in moods. We feel that may help you decide. First of all, whether you buy a Boxter S or a Cayman S, it is usually for a short span of time for some people. For others, it may be for years and years. We believe any car retains value for the person who may want to change; for us that meant to look for a car which has a better retained value, and we feel strongly that the Cayman S has this all over the Boxter S. Only time (perhaps a couple of years) will tell, but please take a good look at the loan/trade in/retail values of a used Boxter and a case can be made that a new Boxter against a new Caymanoffers an easy decision to go with a Cayman. Just my $.02, but that is from a person who has never considered a Boxter in any year, and was the first to order a Cayman S, which was delivered today.
