The water-shedding coating is on the outside of the glass only. The grease on the inside of the glass has proven in most cases to be lubricant from the window lifts getting onto the glass... quite a few folks have taken their cars into the dealer and had the excess lubricant taken off of the lift mechanism, and all has been fine since.
