Front lid - I always told never "slam" it shut but lock it by pressing right below the badge b/c that's where the locking mechanism is. If you don't want finger/palm prints on the paint, the badge is the next best thing. Besides, I thought the reasoning for not "slamming" was because these hoods are made of aluminum and can easily bend? Could be wrong but I think that's what they told me.

Rear lid - When I first got my '06, the windows would not drop down when opening the trunk. I believe this was either disabled or a feature of the '07s and '08s but the dealership fixed that when I brought it in for some warranty work. This is something worth talking to the dealership about as it makes it easier to let the rear trunk drop and lock.
