By making this public Nissan realize everyone is now comparing them to the king of the road, such flattery and only serves to make them sound more credible.

Porsche has a history and a legacy to protect in the high performance category whereas Nissan does not.

Porsche has a cash cow and Nissan wants to chew on their grass!

Porsche is the tall poppy and everybody wants to have a go.

One thing for sure, we can expect more of this from other marques.
A quick search indicates that the "base" model will go for $68k. 40% less than a Turbo. 480HP...but 3800 pounds...claims of 3.9 seconds to 60 mph.
