Just to confirm that you are looking at the right section of road, this is a section of 129 between Blairsville, GA and Cleveland, GA. You could get to it from Highlands via 64 and turn south outside Murphy, NC, or it looks like you could head down 23 and cut over from there. My guess is that it's around a 90 minute or so drive from Highlands, and about 2 hours from the south end of the Dragon. Helen is the "tourist capital" of the area, with plenty of hotels and restaurants. While Cleveland, Blairsville, and Young Harris would also have reasonably appropriate accomidations, but nothing special as far as "attractions" .

There are some more great drives off 129 in that area, and you could probably spend the better part of a day in that area. I've got a map at home that we used on our run earlier in the year that I think Kaiser Sozay had put together, so I'll take a look at that when I get a chance and note some of the other roads in the area that you may want to incorporate. I think that trip included the section of 180 and 60 near Suches you noted.

I hope I can join the drive in the spring!

Regards
