Please could someone just confirm this IS possible and that someone has had this programmed into their key and it works.

I've requested this from the dealer, at PDI time, and was told it was not possible, infact that "although it's stated in the manual it's wrong, I wish Porshe would delete this from the Driver's Manual" to quote the "team lead".

Also alarm does not trigger so I suspect the "trainee" who performed the PDI and spent some 3 hours re-coding the car or trying to, inadvertantly disabled it!
