All (almost all?) European cars have that feature. It is not unusual to see cars parked on a curb on a narrow street with the left or right parking lights on.

And most European cars come with a rear fog light too! Great for driving on the Autobahn in the fog. The rear fog light helps to keep you from being rear ended.
