The Wheelwax works great.
I followed those instructions and I have been extremely pleased with the results. You have a little more work up front but the effort is worth it in the long run.

One more tip - With a good coat of WheelWax on my car I can use a California mini-duster to remove the brake dust. I don't even have to use water.
