Pagid brake pads - fitting question

Hi all,

just recently I attempted to swap my stock front pads for Pagid Oranges in preparation for a track day. I expected the Pagids to be more "meaty" than stock, but it seems like they are TOO thick. I ended up putting my stock pads back on because I didn't want to try and JAM the new pads into place -- there was no way I could see them easily sliding into the caliper. If I did manage to stuff the pads in there, it would basically be right up against the rotor and the pistons wouldn't really have any travel because they're pressed all the way back.

I'm a noob at changing brake pads, so is this what I should expect from aftermarket pads?

any info is appreciated.
