Agreed, but we all do know why: Most people don't really know the prices of either [any] car.

They don't know the Toyota Sienna or Ford Expedition or Chevy Avalanche can run close to $50k (OK the Sienna maxes out at about $43k). Nor do they know that you can get a base Cayman or Boxster for around $50k... or under if you get a good deal. Folks associate Porsche with "expensive/exclusive" and Toyota, Ford, Chevy, etc. with "less expensive/run-of-the-mill". Neither is completely accurate, but it's the perception.
