The EVO X isn't the same as the 8 though and several people who have driven them have reported a different "feel" to the X although most say it is faster than the 8 it just doesn't "feel" that way. How a car feels makes a big difference to many people, for example the Z4 M Coupe "sounds" fast but doesn't "feel" fast to me, whereas the opposite is more true of the Cayman as I can feel it carving up the corners, carrying lots of speed in places most would fear to tread and being a complete all around sports car. If the EVO X doesn't feel that way to you then I would concur, try the Cayman and see how you like it, sounds like you've gone through a lot of cars in the past so perhaps whatever you buy won't be around for a long time in your garage anyway in which case trying something new or different might at least be enjoyable and perhaps more rewarding than you anticipate.
