Skylands was a fun day trip. I've never been to this part of NJ and having a portable GPS encouraged me to try some of the back roads that I would not have bothered with before.
The park itself is fairly large but you can still manage to see everything major in a few hours. The air is nice and cool there since the elevation is so high. Parking is $5 on the weekends and is free the rest of the week.
There is a large mansion on the grounds that can be rented to host events such as weddings. I'm a bit embrassed to say the wedding guests all had eyes on the car (certainly not me!) as I had to drive past them to get to the parking lot.
The access road into the park is not in the best shape to low cars like the Cayman, but since I'm used to driving the Gowanus and BQE, it was fine.
After visiting the park, I made my way over the back roads to Prestige Porsche in Nanuet where they had a speed yellow GT2 with yellow wheels, dials, belts and stitching. WOW.
The car rolled over 4000 miles yesterday too. Not bad for driving only once a week since the weather warmed up in March. Next week is time for Pocono and some extended driving above 5000 RPM!
Hey someday, have you ever been on Clinton Rd. off Rt.23? Supposedly a haunted road with lots of weird happenings on it. Wikipedia has a huge writeup on it.
