I would have to go for the 997S to make it worth while.

I have not driven a 997 in any variant but from what I understand it’s not £16,500 the better car.

I do think it’s a great looking car and agree it’s the best looking 997. Although wonder if this is physiological due to it being the current model??

Just another thing. Yes, the Focus RS may give you a hard time on the motorway. But come the release of the Focus RS (Spring 2009) the £25,000 that it will cost could buy you a decent used 996 or Cayman anyway. I’d say it’s not a reason to eliminate the Cayman S.

I’m going off on a tangent here but…. If you want to get the 911 thing out of your system then fair-play. I often feel the same. I may sell my Cayman S this time next year and buy a used 997S - it’s totally irrational thought behaviour but there is an allure of a 911 that is very difficult to resist. If you want a 911 then do it.

For me the Cayman looks much better than the 911 and there a less on the road. Think a year ahead. The 911 market is going South. These days a 911 is an affordable car. Right now there are 997C2’s up for < £36,000. Isn’t there going to be a 998 around 2009 - 2010 as well?? The exclusivity of the 911 is well on the way out.

In ten years time when there are some horrendous laws imposed on the manufacturers and we all have to buy hydrogen powered cars. People will say “forget the 911, that Porsche Cayman was the best drivers car you could buy.”

The facelift 997 does not have enough to differentiate it from the non facelift to justify buying a new one. Again I have not driven one so this may all be b******s!!

I am going to clean my CS now.
