Miscalculation and speed. The crash happened on Saturday. At the driver's meeting Sunday morning they emphasized getting the car "settled" by tapping the brake before the turn at 4 going down the chute. You climb a hill out of turn 3, drop down the chute and then make the turn at 4 straight on to turn 5. Most are coming down the hill at over 100 mph and brake briefly before making the turn at 4 -- but some do no brake until apporaching turn 5.
