The first ride of the season is always like that, no matter what you did last year. It takes a few rides for your butt to get toughened up. However, a good saddle really helps too. You may want to make sure your bike is properly fit to you and that your saddle is suited to the type of riding you do.

On the other hand, I really don't want to see the leathery calloused behinds of the TDF riders
