K-ManS,

Around here they are really cracking down on noise limits at the track and I think it's not a crazy idea...let me explain.
two weeks ago we had a track weekend at a new track that was built off an old airport and thus it has no sound limits. Everyone got excited and took out all of their sport mufflers and installed the race stuff or took out baffles etc. Needless to say, it was loud. Too loud in fact; there was a 944 (N/A) that was so loud that we all hoped that it would blow up and go away...and it also got us thinking that the sound limits are not so crazy.

I'm sure the capristo sounds great but I for one would be a bit shy driving it around town and having everyone cover their ears if i got on it a bit. At the track there is no way that it would pass the 92db at 50' so i would have spent like $5000 for nothing.

I think that if we want to keep enjoying the sport we all love (track time) then we will have to make certain compromises. I'm happy with the sound that the Milltek (minus the pre-mufflers) makes and I am still well under the limit. Really loud exhaust systems annoy people who are trying to enjoy something other than motorsport and unfortunatly for us, there are far more of them than us!
I used to race enduro-cross (dirt bikes) and there was a big crackdown on mufflers a few years back and now everyone is pretty cool about running "quiet" performance mufflers. This allows us to ride on more land and not piss off farmers and those with country homes near the trails and tracks we go to.

Loud pipes save lives but they may get us kicked off our tracks!
Anyway, that's my rant...
