The good news is that the slightly lower final drive (smaller circumference) will help me out of saome of the slower (mid rpm 3rd gear) corners!!

i think you'll like them. i found about 1 sec better on a 2 min, track over ra1. u need a lot of camber for mpsc i used 3.4 fr 3.0 rear IIRC.
they last as long as r888 trust me. r888 fall off way before any cording, unlike ra1. in cayman i got some times as good as my first few HCs on the 6th track day using them. i posted a review somewhere.
