It probably would have a negative effect on MPG, just like driving with a lead foot; I would think that it also makes the car harder to drive smoothly in stop & go traffic.

after 2 weeks of use, I sometimes think the device is gone dormant as the old smoothness is there. When I step on it realize that my righ foot had gotten accustomed to it. It is there and gives me the kick in the but response that was never there before.
