If its opinions your looking for, Cool. That's fine. I'll throw in mine. ... from looking at the previous winners, they look like revolutionary engineering changes. As CaySman noted. I see the M5/M6 engine ... revolutionary V10, Switchable power. I see Toyota synergy drive. Toyota Prius engine, also revolutionary
Also as CaySman noted, PAG does not build revolutionary engines. Rather they evolve over time. This evolutionary versus revolutionary approach to engineering has been noted before in other threads but also even on History International when they discussed the 911 series. PAG slowly evolves their vehicles. They do not make revolutionary leaps.
Therefore, if you can go by what appears to be a trend in the winning engines, my opinion is that they do not win the top award because their engines evolve and are not revolutionary.
