I am loving gas prices!

Am I crazy?

I just paid $4.65 a gallon.

For every dollar over $3.00 a gallon it costs an additional $40 per month for gas if you drive 1000 miles at 25mpg.

So for less than $80 a month I am seeing a lot less traffic on SF Bay area freeways. I love it.

$7.00 a gallon is $160 a month per $1000 miles

That should keep a whole bunch a folks off the road.

Don't shatter my delusional optimism with talk off fuel prices causing inflation.

I thought it was from the movie 'The Village' by M.Knight.ShamblesLambles.

If Gas would only hit $10 a gallon and then I won't be even on the roads, think how empity they'll be then.

I know its spelled wrong.

For an extra boost, get a gas awards oriented credit card that will give you 3-5% cash back on your purchases. Then you'll have more open roads AND a small discount.

Crazy? How would I know? I would say more of an oddity in Northern Province of the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia.

The talk of the politicos putting forward proposals for all forms of regulation and price controls scares the **** out of me. Nearly every economic crisis experienced by this country is a result of price controls. Leave the market alone! Oil company profit percentages are far less than in most other industries (no, I do not work for an oil company).

The prices are already keeping people off the road (and I love it), even here in the last (nearly) bastion of economic sanity that is Orange County (yes we are red on the political red/blue maps).

OK, this post is probably already too political, so I will just agree with Dave and hope for $7.00 gasoline. Then we can get the roads back from the masses and I (yes, I said I, as I believe that rational self interest creates the best outcome for all) can get back to enjoying the roads, cut my commute time in half, and make better productive use of my time and your money.

BTW, if you really want to help the environment and the economy, try to get people to stop wasting their money on BS hybrids and encourage them to just by a darn PZEV econobox and invest the savings in a good growth company.

Cheers,

I don't think profit percentages are a good comparison. 6% profit of 1.9 trillion revenue is a lot more than 20% profit on 1 million...

But in anycase, I agree with these posts. Oil prices don't affect the rich. They affect the poor. Too bad I'm not that rich.
