I will be curious to see if the US Top Gear will be as good as the original. Part of the appeal is the fact that Top Gear is a British show filmed in exotic locales. When they did that stint where the Brits would constantly turn to the camera and tell us "how much that was in dollars" or explained some idiom or local reference, the show lost it's charm.
I would sit there thinking, "How stupid do you really think we are in the US?" Reminded me of a guy I met in college in England asking me if it was true that rental cars came with guns in the glove box in the US. He had read it in a car magazine.

Clarkson is real funny, but for some reason he hates Porsche (maybe he wanted one but they wouldnt sell him ) and for that reason, I kinda dislike him, especially when he makes annoying comments about them!

A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!

He actually LIKED the new 911 TT! (I do, too - friend handed me the keys during our transport drive from Dallas to Baton Rouge, had less than 150 miles on it.)
Then again, Clarkson likes the big flashy Italian stallions. Maybe he's compensating?

Porsche is not that stingy, but they have every right to not sell to clarkson after all the biased things he said about porsche.
in his own words "i respect it (996T) as an machine, but i don't have passion for it, i don't want to make love to it"
Like anyone he's entitled to his opinion. I don't take the show too seriously and find it extremely entertaining.
all the host have their own preferences on the major makers anyway, u need that for the show to work, since its show on public TV and they have to pretend that they are as objective as possible.

YES - my partner and I sometimes laugh until we are crying. Loved their trek across Africa. Go Oliver!

i really enjoy the show but the recent episodes are rerun too often lately. on BBCA there seems to be the same couple (most recent) shows over and over and over.
hammond loves porsche. especially the 911.
clarkson really put down the cayman model when it came out, that hurt me... he LOVED the rx8 i saw right after i had bought one. i was so proud that jeremy liked my car
