Anyone saw the 2008 Le Mans? The 2 teams racing the Porsche RS Spyder won first and second positions in the LMP2 category the first was a dutch team, think it was Merkantier or something like that
Not the same for the GT2 cat unfortunately, the GT3 RSR's took 5th and 7th

Yes, I was interested in the plight of the Spyders also. I was surprised that the Peugeots and the Audis were something like an average of 12 mph faster a lap than the Porsche Spyders. I guess the long Mulsanne (sp?) straight had something to do with that, but 12 mph faster? Perhaps if Penske had set the cars up, the speeds would have been closer. I was hoping that the Spyders would pull an old Porsche trick and slay the big boys by out lasting them, but it did not happen this time. I would love to see Porsche build a contender for overall victory again. If they wait too long, Audi might just catch up with Porsche's record 16 (or is it 17?) overall wins.
I too was surprised Porsche didnt take on the LMP1 class, at least they won their own LMP2 class! Audi and Peugeot are taking the LMP1 almost exculsively, hopefully Porsche will get that back soon enough!

I forgot to watch, ugh, so what was the finish order in LMP1 and GT and GT2 classes?

The LMP1 was won by the #2 Audi driven by Tom Kristensen, followed by the Peugeot driven by Nicolas Minassian, poor guy, only lost because of a mistake in the pit lane, and the fact the he decided to run on slicks in a semi wet weather But he was a real fighter, even though he had clearly lost, he kept fighting and doing his best, respect to Minassian!
The GT1 was won again by Aston martins, the GT2 was won by a ferrari, there were like 5 ferraris and 2 Porsche's in that class, by the end of the first morning, a Porsche was leading the pack, I went to sleep and then got again to a ferrari leading (4 of them actually), with a Porsche in 5th and another in 7th!

Yes, the GT2 Porsches were leading but, get this: Patrick Long, who was in the GT2 lead, was run into by the other GT2 class Porsche in what was a STUPID mistake aparently (I don't know the details of the accident), which forced both cars deep into the gravel pit. This put Long out of the race, and I think the other GT2 class Porsche was also too damaged to get back in the race. This all happened within the first two hours of the race. What a pity!
