Audi R8 -lazy Afternoon

Had the opportunity today to take a Audi R8 for a test drive.I must say what a really nasty car which actually understates the maginficent beauty of this car.
The engine delivery of power particually the torque from down low thru to the 8000 redline of the 4.2lt v8 was delightful.Smooth as silk but with a exhaust note that was exotic muscle car menacing.Manual gearbox worked well and selected easily.
Handling on surburban roads seemed spot on with a nice balance overall.
Detail of workmanship was faultless and a design that makes it stand out in the crowd.
The Audi dealership is located in a complex that houses a Ferrari,Bentley and Alfa dealerships and when the salesperson brought this White R8 beast out from their underground lockup and park ,the other dealers all came out for a stare.
Likewise driving thru the streets people just stared and stared.
I remember when I took my first drive of a Porsche Cayman S I had a similar experience of must have one and this car does the same(for me).
Would I change a Porsche for a R8-No- but would I want both in my Garage-Absolutely!!!!
I continue to think Porsche is were it is at - but do yourself a favour one lazy afternoon and get a drive of this beast, you won't have regrets.

Sounds like the way to spend an afternoon. I followed one on a rally and was in love.

How did the manual transmission compare to the Cayman?
It looks "notchy", is it?
