Hey Gang,
I thought you'd all get a kick out of a very unusual car I owned for a while. It's a Westfied SEiGHT made in GB and assembled by Westfield Cars of America. They shipped the components from GB and assembled them in Creswell Oregon, USA. The car was licensed as a 1960's Rover from where the old aluminmum block V8 (GM licensed to Rover) was donated. I always liked the Lotus Sevens and 'some' of the replicas. This 7 replica approach was unique in that it had a fiberglass body. The fellow that started Westfield cars used to work with Colin Chapman on the Super 7 and they had a bit of a falling out. Westfield fought lawsuits for years until they did a few fundamental changes to Westfields to preclude further indenticality suits. So anyway, I bought the car and had it shipped down to California where I took the title certificate from Oregon to the California DMV. I simply did a title transfer and it became one of maybe 3 street legal SEiGHTS in the state. The car weighed about 1800 lbs, had about 240 HP and flattened out at about 6K RPM. No 'vroom vroom' factor, more of a 'Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' factor. The car did handle like it was on rails and could only come loose when I hit wet pavement. The roll bar came up to about my hip and it was like putting on a loafer. Kids would flock around it like it was a cartoon car. No smog, no nuttin'. Side exhaust were a little risky and got pretty hot. The top was useless and it was the pits to drive in the rain. The picture was taken at the Alpine Inn in Portola Valley, California, USA. I occasionally have a beer and play some tunes there on nice afternoons after work.
Cheers,
John
