I just filled up the tank....$55.00!!!! I bet in about another 4 years it will probably be around $100. Guess it's justification to buy the new civic Anyone else driving a gas miser as a daily driver?
hwangtkd, it is a little insensitive to complain about fuel costs when our cayman brothers in almost every other country are paying close to double what we do. I don't mean to go off on a tear, but you can thank your local congressman for your price at the pump. Ethanol may burn cleaner, but you have to burn more of it to go the same amount of miles. You will notice that your blended domestically produced additive fuel did not make the price go down (in fact it spiked due to the enforcement of the standards before they could support them and it never really came back from that). Also, look at the amount of tax you pay per gallon in your state. In my state, PA, I pay over $.50/gal. in taxes. That's over $8.00 per fill up. OR based on national daily consumption of 383.3 million gallons/day $71,351,295,000 (yes that's billion with a 'B'). And yet the feds still wants 30% of my paycheck and the state another 3% and the local gov 1% plus real estate taxes. Now, having said all of that, it is a little insensitive for me to complain about taxes given what our cayman brothers around the world are paying..................................
<div>And I have to hear from someone else in Europe about how much more they have to pay than us... Yes, we know.</div>

£63 to fill mine up. Every 4 days. That's $500 per month on gas alone.
<div></div>
<div>I look at it as my car is one of the few toys that I have and that I really enjoy, and I get to enjoy it every day. I imagine there are plenty others on this board that are the same. I couldn't se buying another car unless I really ended up driving huge distances each day. How many miles in a car that gets in the 30s to 40s MPG over a car that gets in the 20s does it take to justify buying another car, insurance, maintenance, tags, etc.? Not to mention the fact that I just wouldn't enjoy it as much.</div>
In my last post I wasn't going to get 'political', but seeing as how its been brought up...The Europeans have their governements to thank for why their gas is so high. A barrel ofoil doesn't cost any more over there and I'm sure refining it doesn't cost that much more over there. When we buy aviation fuel ina lot of places in Europeover 60% of it is tax. There are some countries that take the taxes off for a non-commercial, international flight and its usually cheaper than what we pay here in the states.

Believe me, I know about international gas prices. I have travelled and have seen the disparity first hand. This comment was aimed towards the U.S. owners. There are certain countries where you can buy gas for less than a dollar a gallon, but I am not comparing my experience with thiers, rather with the days of yore. I am upset with the recent priceupheaval. Intellectually, I know that if you compare the price of gas with the price of gas in the 70's and take into account for inflation, market forces, ect that we are still at a bargain price point. However, it still stings when the prices have been so volitile. Compare the price of gas to 5 years ago.......even one year ago. It's disgusting. And I cant help but to feel bad for those who are not well off as we are (in our own country). So if it's a little insensitive to you, thats your issue not mine right?

It's the price of our toys. I sold a Mainship 350 Trawler motor yacht a few months back. It had twinVolvo TAMD41 diesels and a 300 gallon tank. I could burn in 1hour what it takesto fillmy Cayman. I am not complaining.

It get's really sad to see complaints about gas prices, when where we are in Europe even the slightest risk in the Oil market sends fuel prices shooting up in value, and then when we complain all we hear are complaints about global warming and how we are polluting the atmosphere.
It's got to the stage now where it won't be long before people start looking down on SUV drivers because of the same reason....
Hybrid car owners get a much better deal - and I wonder what the new TESLA is like, it looks quite like a Lotus Elise from the pictures and performs phenominally well for an electric sports car!
I would be wary of the Tesla. I would probably hold out for the next generation Prius. It is rumored to get over 100 mpg.........even if that means 75mpg real world, it would be quite the cost saver compared to 20-40 mpg for today's sub-compacts and compacts.

If it's any consolation, I got 26mpg on a recent hwy trip. Certainly no fun cruising along at 75mph watching the odometer click away, but that's about what my Honda gets. 6th gear seems to give you longer legs.
The problem with the Tesla is that your refueling stop is lengthy (3.5hrs in good conditions(?)). This will be the bane of electric only cars for a long time. Also, until we get a european attitude about nuclear energy, most of our electricity is going to be generated from fossil fuels, so you are really just moving the emissions and costs further up the line.
well, to ease the pain in your wallet, a Cs costs 84000 euros, and that is <u>without </u>options, thats about $113k, and one liter of gas is 1.35 euros, thats about $6.7 for a gallon..
Come on! Did any of us expect fuel prices to make some dramatic drop after we bought these cars? No one of us has to drive a CS, it is truly just a big boy toy. If the fuel price is too much sell it and move on. But complaining about the cost of such a discretionary thing is not cool.
Really.
