<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 140%">'Americans still like driving, but not as much as in the past, reports the Associated Press
. Nearly 70 percent of drivers enjoy getting behind the wheel, while the rest say traffic and the behavior of other drivers makes them dislike the experience. In 1991, 80 percent said they enjoyed driving. About a quarter of drivers thinks of their vehicles as 'something special' instead of just a 'means of transportation.' Too many people think of driving as competition, says Leon James, co-author of the book, 'Road Rage and Aggressive Driving.' 'Americans are nice people,' said James, a psychology professor at the <st1lace w:st="on"><st1lacetype w:st="on">University</st1lacetype> of <st1lacename w:st="on">Hawaii</st1lacename></st1lace>. 'But there are certain areas that have to do with games and competition, where we become less nice to each other.'
That doesn't mean people are not driving. They just don't enjoy driving but some don't have a choice as far as transportation is concerned. Some have no access to trains or buses so driving is the only means for them.
