70 speeding tickets in 5 months

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060811/...HNlYwNtZW5ld3M-

PHOENIX, Arizona (Reuters) - As a mortgage broker in Arizona, Francesca Cisneros is used to working with big numbers. It's the double-digit speed limits she has trouble with.

Cisneros racked up 70 speeding tickets in the last five months, a record for the Scottsdale Police Department, police said on Friday.

Speeding cameras in Scottsdale, a suburb of Phoenix, snapped pictures of the 32-year-old woman as she tore through the sun-baked city in her Honda Civic between March 2 and July 31.

'She told arresting officers she was speeding because she seemed to be late for client meetings all the time,' Scottsdale Police Department spokesman Mark Clark told Reuters. 'I guess she's got some time management issues.'

The second-worst offender in the department's history accumulated a mere 25 tickets, Clark said.

Police said Cisneros said she threw her speeding tickets away because she thought nothing could happen to her if she didn't pay them.

Clark said Cisneros faces some $11,000 in fines and could have her license suspended.

While the fact remains true that she is stupid: 'I threw my tickets away because I didn't think anyhting would happen.' I personally feel speeding tickets, time wasted enforcing speed, and traffic cops are all stupid as well.

I believe there should only be one kind of speed related ticket: 'Dangerous speed/Dangerous Driving'. All cars are not built the same. What is safe at 55mph in most cars is safe at 100mph in the Cayman S. Different handling characteristics, better brakes, better tires, better center of gravity, etc.... all add up to make the Cayman S more safe at higher speeds.

Anyhow, Ityped this up in a very one-sided way on purpose:So that I could make my point clear.

I hate speeding tickets and usually frown upon the police officers whowaste there time pulling people over for going 15mph over the speed limit on the highway. (Residentialareas and In-Town is a different story). I thinkthe tax-payers time and money could be better spent fighting REAL crime.

how is that even possible?...the cops around here know how many tickets you have or any outstanding issues by looking them up on their little computers everytime they punch up your plate. I think its after 3 times or so many points, they just keep your license, then you get tossed in the slammer. Doesnt sound like the police really have their act together...maybe i should move there.

Speeding cameras. She probably took the same route to work everyday (back and forth) and racked them up within a few weeks. The cameras automatically took her picture and cited her.

I love the line in the article that Cisneros 'could' have her license suspended. How about revoked!

My impression is that skill, reflexes, concentration, quality equipmentand luck is a combo in somewhat short supply. No matter which car you're in, I think 100MPH is just about unmanageablein any but the best circumstances (although I have to admit that there seems to be a lot of high-speed driving on autobahnen, autoroutes and autostradi). Indy cars, F1, Nextel, etc. all have amazing drivers in wonderful cars - but accidents happen with alarming frequency. I hope, fervantly, that CaymanClubbers' faith and confidence in themselves and their cars is not misplaced (and that they don't encounter too many people like Ms. Cisneros in their travels).

I saw a program on the Autobahn and it stated that their highway system is the safest in the world and had the least amount of accidents. This was on the Discovery or History Channel. So, if it's true, then it adds validity to my argument.

I thought the camera tickets were not being issued in the States because so many cases were thrown out due to better lawyers.

They stopped issuing the stop-light-camera tickets in Southern Virginia for this reason.
