I know this is one of the best Porsches ever made, but it's styling leaves a bit to be desired IMO. It will be interesting to see if the value holds on as Porssche bests its' performance and styling.
The story behind the 959is very interesting. Developed for Gruppe B which was sheleved and most of the cars went unsold, Porsche spend a huge amount of money of these cars which was never recouped. Despite the advanced technology, much of which ended up in later production cars, and it's 'supercar'moniker the 959 doesn't seem to evoke the emotion or passion it should enjoy. The inability to legally import the car to the US at the time may have contributed, and even the attempts to bring the car in as a race car evidently failed.
I've seen the ads for this car in Excellence, and I also think it's been in Pano, too. For those of you who might actually be thinking of one of these, this is actually a pretty good price. There's a long-time Porsche guy and PCA member in Santa Cruz named Bruce Canepa, who also restores old Porsche race cars, runs them in vintage races and has a big private Porsche collection. He is buying these 959s, then completely revamping them with new, modern ECUs, re-engineered engines that raise the horsepower, and re-engineered AWD. His prices are 'a little' higher, if you get my drift... and, it still might have the tape deck!

Attended a party last night at Brumos. Stars at the show a gray 959 and a Cayenne GTS. Oh, and Peter Schutz former President and CEO.
Go to Feb08 for the story.
Our Cayman is fine at 4200 miles! Living with the trunk clunk till I go for service. Haywood school planned for April 12.

Agree. The 959 isn't that interesting anymore, IMO. A lot of the technology made it into the 964 and 993 cars in a more evolved form. A 993 Turbo S is a better car in almost every way than a 959, and is still a fraction of the cost.
