Reputation Points Anyone?

I have seen rep points offered in other forums. They are points people can give to a person for being helpful or having a good opinion in the forums or -rep for a irresponsible response someone gives.

Do you think rep points should be given on this site? I do, I find many people in this site which deserves a little something, as they been very helpful answering some of my questions I had asked before on this site but felt kinda shamed for not being able to give anything for their behalf. K-Man S, your thoughts plz?

There are Rep points here built up by posting, not sure if there are any other ways to assign them, but will check into it.

I checked into the Rep points and all new users start with 5 points. You get 1 point for each post you make. Other than that they aren't used for anything, but you can see someone's rep by looking at their profile. While quantity doesn't always equal quality, I haven't seen any problem users here to where we'd need to assign someone negative rep points. So far everyone has been extremely helpful on their own it doesn't appear that we need to incent people to build up their rep points as enough quality postings will build up their reputation among readers here. We have the post number, stars, and description line underneath each user's name next to their posts to help identify for others those who are most active.

Since my programming time is committed to other projects currently, which will ultimately affect this site, I can put it on the list on one of those projects to investigate, but likely no implementation here in the immediate future. I do appreciate the suggestion, I just don't have the resources to commit to it at the present time given the current level of need. Hope that helps.
