What a cool experience to happen upon something like that. I am impressed with the R8 too. My local Audi salesman buddy said he has deposits for about 7 already. Price unsure but most likely north of $100K.

Since they were making a commercial I assume this was the production example. I find the overall shape appealing but the detailing very disjointed. Audi has stiff competition in that price range.

Saw this yesterday at the LA auto show. I had thought it looked a little clumsy in pictures, but in person it is the HOTNESS. It looked amazing from all angles. Sleeker and smaller than in the pictures I've seen, and very wide in the rear. I hope to see one on the road b/c the Audi rep told me there would only be 180 produced next year for America (20 for Canada).

It will be interesting to see the car in person, as with the Cayman it may look better in real life compared to pictures. Since there will be few cars for sale, dealers may not even stock the car - I know my P car dealer does not stock 997 TT :-(

That's an incredibly low number, almost hard to believe. While definitely a halo car that shares lots of architecture with the Gallardo, I would think they would expect more than that for profitability. The fact that my dealer claims to have deposits for 7 already seems to suggest someone is misinformed.

I don't know. The car looks a little G35c to me. Also the plastic stick-ons are something less than fluid. I know it is supposed to be a more angular car, a la Lotus Esprit, but that's been done (and I think is going to be done again, but by Lotus). I'm glad car companies are trying different things, esp. tinkering with mid engine design, but I don't think that if I was a consumer in this market that it would be my pick. Also, Audi seems to be making a departure from their current design queues -- I guess they don't all have to look similar (like BMWs), but it helps if the halo car resembles the underlings that it is supposed to support. Hopefully it will usher in bigger and better things for Audi.

Not a fan of the many plastic fins however

I am sure it will be a good car. Every Audi is. But I doubt it will challenge the likes of Porsche...
