Knew it was quick, but Bloody HELL..Watched it on You Tube leather Ford GT's. Am told that "Italy's Best" get slapped by it as well..........What sort of engine has it got?
Mike
7 liter pushrod, dubbed the LS7. Largest and most powerful small-block motor in a passengr car by GM, 500 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. It can get you to the next gas station in a about 3.5 seconds.
But only marginally faster (1-2 seconds) around a 2.5 mile road course than a lightly modified Cayman S. Undoubtedly the Z06 is quick, and there have been many discussion threads about it here in the past.
The Z06 lapped the all-mighty Nurburgring in 7:42.9 while the Cayman S clocks in at 8:11. The 997 GT3 comes in at 7:42, so there's hope yet that a Cayman S with a 911 engine transplant can beat a Z06.
Although doubtful I would ever own one, you've got to admire the Z06 and C6 Corvettes in general. They are reasonably light, a lot less than many of their competitors, and actually get pretty good gas mileage at cruise speeds. And the price/performance ratio is nice. The main recurring complaint is that the interiors and overall fit/finish are a notch below the competition.
