65 points in total. 42 of them in the second half. I'm not a Lakers fan but you can't help but sit back and be in awe when he gets in that zone.

I was there at Staples tonight and saw the whole thing. Kobe was amazing, obviously.

It was apparent within the first 3 minutes of the game that Kobe wanted to control the Lakers offense.

I guess throwing all those elbows has cleared out more room for him. He's a great individual player, not much of a man IMO.

Kobe's an incredible scorer. He could even match Chamberlain's record if he didn't miss so many shots.

He was close that one time (81 points). Imagine if that game went on longer? But we all know that great scorers need that championship ring to justify their scoring sprees. Noted that Kobe already has rings from his days with Shaq but then the Lakers were Shaq's team not Kobe's.

its about time! shaq has had a major role in the lakers the past 5 years. the lakers won championships with him. Durring his prime no one could stop the 7'2 350lb(i think) beast. when shaq left he still went all the way... what happned to the lakers that year? about his free throws- its not his fault his hands are bigger then the ball.

ill admit kobe has talent but i still dont like him

Kobe doesn't need to prove that he's a great player. His all-around performances alone are enough to assure him a seat in the HOF. What he needs to prove is that he can lead a team to a championship victory. Jerry West is a great manager and he's done well to surround Kobe with decent talent (Odom, Walton, etc). I think the Lakers need a few more guys to complete the puzzle. Kobe's young so he has at most 10 more years to play. It's not hard to imagine him hoisting that trophy within that time span.
