Tourist Delivery - Day 12

Posted 10-09-2007 at 05:18 PM by Gator Bite
Amazing how fast two weeks can go by. We started day 12 in Strasbourg France, home of the European parliament. I might have liked to look around a bit, but honestly, we didn't have any time. So we did a quick drive by of the EU parliament for a couple of pictures, then we were off on our journey back to Stuttgart.

First, a gratuitous car shot:

Sorry, I couldn't help it. Man, am I happy...

Tourist Delivery - Day 11

Posted 10-09-2007 at 05:15 PM by Gator Bite
OK, it's that time again. Ina and I are back in the USA and we have good internet access and a little more time to write.

Day 11 started in Haren, Ina's hometown in the far Northwest of the country. We had about 3 hours of driving ahead of us before we would reach Koblenz, home of the Nurburgring. The A-31 cuts through the Northwest of Germany, stretching from the North Sea down to to the West Central area of Essen. It's also a great place to do some high speed runs. Long, straight,...

Tourist Delivery - Day 3

Posted 10-09-2007 at 05:11 PM by Gator Bite
We started our day in Mayen, at Ina's Aunt Petra and Uncle Haralds, who were kind enough to put us up for the night on very short notice, due to our sudden change of plans. Mayen is in the Koblenz area, about 30 km away from the Nurburgring. Here is the first sign that we saw as we were leaving. So tempting.....

Day 3 would be an autobahn day. Our destination would be Ina's home town of Haren, in Emsland,...

Tourist Delivery - Day 2

Posted 10-09-2007 at 05:01 PM by Gator Bite
OK, I'm back. It's 1:00am in Deutschland and I have an internet connection and some time to write. So here we go.......

Day two was a mixture for us. We started early, still jet lagged, but we got some much needed sleep last night. I woke up around 8:00 am (by alarm clock) because I wanted to be lucid when Mr. Heinisch called to tell me what they found wrong in my car. He said we would get a call some time between 8:00 - 9:00. Well, 10:00 came and still no call. I'm getting nervous...

OK, so it's finally here. The day I've been waiting for for months. I could barely sleep last night, anxious with anticipation, dying from 9 hours of jet lag caused by a back to back trip from San Diego to Hartford to Stuttgart. But that's all irrelevant. I feel like I am dead on my feet and dying to sleep, but the anticipation is too much. I was up every couple of hours last night looking at the clock like a kid on Christmas eve. The morning finally arrives.

I wake up long before...
