Busy few weeks

Posted 11-20-2007 at 02:12 PM by PistolPete13
Wow, what a busy 3 weeks. Came back from Watkins Glen with the dashboard of the Infiniti lit up like a Christmas tree with errors. SLIP, VDC OFF, Service Engine soon. I think the on-board computer wents nuts trying to figure out why the car was turning at 80 MPH uphill at the Toe-of-the-Boot while the rear tires are screaming in protest.

A nice easy 260 mile drive on the highway magically cleared all the lights.

With winter on the way here in NY, time to bite the...

Watkins Glen trip report

Posted 10-31-2007 at 11:32 PM by PistolPete13
Back from a 6 hour drive and I'm still in one piece. There was one other Cayman S at the event but several 997 Turbos in the beginner group and a few 2007 Z06's.

I was driving my 2007 Infiniti G35s 6-speed sedan (the family hauler). My Cayman S is still on the boat right now.

The Infiniti had 7600 miles and should be well broken in.

The first day was cold! 29 degrees in the morning with winds and never got up past 50 degrees during the day.

Waiting in Watkins Glen

Posted 10-29-2007 at 01:08 AM by PistolPete13
9PM sitting in a hotel in Corning, NY. Got a 5AM wakeup call tomorrow in order to head to the track for the first of two days.

Staying at a Days Inn. Nice, clean, comfy and they have speedy free wireless this year!

Still a bit nervous about tomorrow. It's been over a year and a half since I've been on a track, way too long. This is also a new car for me. I wonder how a rear drive car will feel vs. the Audi Quattro I had all these years.

Weather is...

Too much time on the board

Posted 10-23-2007 at 11:42 PM by PistolPete13
OK, I'm spending way too much time here.

My Cayman S is on the boat. I have two track days at Watkins Glen next Monday and Tuesday.

I'll be driving my 2007 Infiniti G35s 6-speed. The Cayman S is arriving just a bit too late for this. Probably just as well. I'm not about to redline a new engine for 20 minutes per run on a track.

The Infiniti has 7700 miles on it since I picked it up in Feb. Not bad since I only drive it once a week. Don't really...

Huh? Bloog?

Posted 10-23-2007 at 11:33 PM by PistolPete13
What is this bloog stuff? All this newfangled tech stuff, I don't get it.

I remember the days before email and the Internet when you actually had to come up with creative ways to kill time at work.
