SSK final installation and test drive

Posted 10-02-2007 at 05:06 AM by grrlsix
there is something disheartening about being so close to the finish of a project and realizing the very last step before re-installation is just something i was not able to do. now that the shifter and link are together it is all glory, but last night...

after a quick trip to a Porsche mechanic on the way to work, i was in possession of an assembled shift/link exchange. i admit i took the linkage in to work - partially to work it a bit in-between cataloguing, and partially to show it to a co-worker girlfriend of mine who was supposed to help me with the swap.

ha.

after work today there was final installation and test drive. everything is working perfectly - the throws are much shorter and a bit more notchy, the cables and ball joint thingys (oh so technical) are free moving and adjusted to our liking. i've not put the center console or trim back on as of yet, but testing beforehand is key as that was the pain part.

i think we'll leave it open for the Sunday rallye - may be interesting for others to see as well.

also have some pics of the linkage...
