...i never thought i'd go this far, without a star to cross the seas -
so far from shores i'd left behind, still far from shores i've yet to reach...

50th International Car Show - or - a wealth of Maserati
went to the 50th International Car Show last night. every year i am reminded how fractastic it is to go with someone who understands and likes to talk the details... my husband rocks, a lot.
two points of humor:
Jaguar was in a little room off to the side with Lotus, Lamborghini, and Range Rover (??), and when we walked in they were doing some sort of stereo presentation from the Jag up on the spinning pedestal. totally over the top, with a salesman posted with upraised arms just basking in glory. we were snickering so much we dove into a nearby Jag coupe (yum) to escape the menagerie.
also quite silly was the Ford talking robot display. one could hear the robot talking in a very “Cleveland from The Family Guy” way. hilarious - and what better way to sell macho cars?
ok, here’s the skinny:
Porsche Targa4S - spied one of these at Carlsen a few weeks ago. let the *dr0oling* begin. interesting to see so many design similarities throughout the different Porsche models. methinks i am starting to get it.
Audi R8 - i can't wait to get inside one of these, what design and prowess. as i looked at it i said, "i very much like Porsche, but i do not think i am quite done with Audi as of yet. if ever..."
Audi S5 - although not as striking as the R8, this little badboy handles like a motherf. same well thought out, voluptuous Audi interior.
Nissan GT R - this car was amazing to behold - stunning! i am becoming fond of Nissan, and where they are heading. the Z350 is a blast, this one i can only imagine. someone was creaming, "this car is not only fast, but luxurious!" and although that did elicit a little chuckle from us, i understood.
Honorable mention goes out to these two - Subaru wrx STI - Mitsubushi Evo - they, um, kick4ss and the styling is improving. not bad... methinks the wrx STI would make a good replacement for our SAAB *grin* d4mn Porsche payments. heh.
BMW 1 Series - this little guy just reminded me of a widdle cute puppydog. really. cute little screamer, and more impressive in person. could not get inside though *pout*
Mini Clubman S - this car is just… weird. have to love all of the doors and the overload of bling (is that really the speedometer? ugh.) and way too odd not to sit in. a terrifying experience and not for the faint, although i did dig the black/blue bi-color sport seats.
My Picks of the Show - Lotus Elise (ripe orange) and Exige (lime green) - yeah yeah i've seen these before, but not in such vibrant colors in person. how could i possibly be so tempted by a lime green car? outstanding.
Coolest car in the show - definitely the dark and deep grey on grey Lamborghini - the epitome of stealth, this car quietly crouched amongst its peers (?) ready to bite. dangerous. (may i borrow $300,000? - please?) the angular menace of this car even outshone the wealth of kewl Maseriti, not an easy task by far (is that the plural of M? a wealth of Maserati? heh)

...dont talk back, just drive the car.
shut your mouth, i know what you are.
dont say nothing, keep your hands on the wheel.
dont turn around, this is for real...
