Progress Report, Friday March 7th
Ken dropped by iA yesterday and took some more pictures that he uploaded to my photo gallery so now I have some material to blog!
*** WARNING !!! Some of these images are graphic in nature and not for the faint of heart... *** (LOL!) a complete motor swap is MAJOR surgery and seeing your pride and joy in such a state is actually a bit disturbing... I'm just going to focus on what it will be like once its finished! Whew! OK, better now.
Here we go!
Here are 4 shots of the shockingly empty (and quite dusty) engine bay:

Since I didn't take this one I'm assuming that this shot is of the 2 motor's side by side on engine stands. Old 3.4 on the right, new X51 on the left... The perspective of the photo may be misleading in that I think it distorts the true comparitive size of the 2 motors, and the old one has been cleaned off as they swap stuff over too so keep that in mind:

Here's a close up shot of the back side of my old motor showing the flywheel:

Here's a shot of the new intake runners, and what I'm assuming are at least some of the new motor mounts:

Here's a shot of my old (rather dirty) intake:

Here's a closeup shot of the new X51 as they transplant the various plumbing onto it:

A closeup of the OEM flywheel (still on my old 3.4 I think) :

Another closeup of the side of the new X51:

Here's a shot of the X51 intake plenum and larger throttlebody:
