You MUST be frikin kidding me...
Just got back from Vegas where I was a groomsman in a buddies wedding, and now I have to climb in my car and drive it back to iA so they can troubleshoot the Variocam problem the new motor is having... Yea... NOT!
Porsche corporate is trying to say that the Variocam issue was magically caused by it sitting in a Cayman as opposed to a 911 as if it caused some kind of infectious malfunction by exposing it to the much more ideal mid-engine position, despite the fact that iA made no INTERNAL CHANGES to the motor or even any EXTERNAL ones relating to the heads/cams etc. They want some specific info from the ECU and they want to have one of the dealers mechanics look at the car which will tell them exactly squat other than that it was very well installed but does in fact have a MANUFACTURING DEFECT related to the Variocam system... Considering that iA noted that the valve covers had been removed/replaced when they took it out of the crate it seems pretty frikin obvious that the question that Porsche SHOULD be asking THEMSELVES is "what was wrong with it that caused it to be rebuilt IN THE FIRST PLACE?"... I'd bet good money it was a Variocam issue...
Anyhow, Porsche Corporate is trying to say that because iA "modified" the motor THAT is the cause of the Variocam issue and hence its not going to support their warranty... Its complete horse Sh** since other than the fact the engine is sitting in a Cayman no "modifications" were made even remotely linked to the Variocam system and its almost 100% sure that its an INTERNAL MECHANICAL ISSUE attributable to a manufacturing defect. iA is just as p*ssed off about it as I am and Stephen has pledged to make it right, up to and possibly including suing Porsche if need be... It sounds like the parts manager that sold him the motor is much more inclined to play nice but his hands may be tied by the corporate BS coming down from Porsche.
SO, I'm extremely p*ssed. iA's open house event is over and I'm back from my buddies wedding so tomorrow I take off to bring the car back up to iA. We'll see where this goes from there...

Sorry both you and your vendor are leading and bleeding. When the change-out work is done, and it will eventually be, you will be pleased.
