Anticipation and Aggravation
My first track days of the year are coming up this week-end and I have been eagerly looking forward to it. I had hoped to have some of my planned mods done ( e.g. Softronic Plenum, racing seats, track alignment) but I guess that's going to have to wait for next month (fingers crossed). At least that will give me a chance to do a little before and after testing with my lap times.
I did try to install my Mantis Fire Extinguisher mounting bracket - what a nightmare that turned out to be. It seemed so simple - unscrew the front 2 seat rail bolts, slide the bracket into position, and replace the bolts.
Unfortunately, no matter what I tried, including loosening the rear bolts, I just could not get the inboard holes to line up so that I could confidently start the bolt without cross-threading it. After 2 sweaty, aggravating hours cramped under the steering wheel, I gave up - very frustrating.
I guess I'm going to have to enlarge the hole on the bracket somehow, to give me a little more room to get the bolt thru. Now, where's my Dremel . . . ?
