First Blog - First Entry

Well, I'm kind of new to this whole blogging thing, so we'll just have to see how it goes. I guess there might be some benefit to keeping a log or diary of my Cayman experiences, though I'm not sure it will be of any particular benefit or interest to anyone else.
This blog will primarily cover my adventures in modifications - I am starting another, separate blog to cover my track adventures. When I bought my CS (used), I told myself that I wasn't going down that same slippery slope I experienced with my WRX.
I have been quite happy with the performance of my CS from the start - however, after being bitten by the track bug, and frequenting this website far more than I probably should (just ask my wife), I have once again been tempted to improve and tweak my car.
I have been following the modification threads around here long enough to realize that with the usual "easy" mods (intake, plenum, exhaust, DME reflash, etc) it is only possible to realize a 20-30 BHP increase over stock in most cases. I still have no intention of going down the turbo, supercharger, engine swap route, so the other alternative with respect to track performance, is to lighten the load by putting my Cayman on a weight-loss program.
I have decided to go after the "low hanging fruit" as it were, with regards to weight: the battery, seats, wheels, and exhaust. I think that it should be possible to reduce the weight by at least 100 lbs with this combination. I'm not planning on stripping the interior (this car is still my daily driver), so that's probably the best I can hope for at this point. Next time: a MODest start.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Where to start?

Hey thanks for getting started with blogging!
BTW I marked your blog as public so people could view it, otherwise you were going to be blogging by yourself over in the corner. ![]() |
