Softronic Race Plenum Install

Whew.
My first major Cayman mod accomplished: installation of the Softronic Race Plenum/Throttle body (SRP).

Originally, I had planned to have it installed at a local dyno shop by the owner/tuner there, but he had too much going on this week, and I was too impatient to wait another week or 2 for him to be available. Oh well, so no before-and-after Dyno results to share - but I did save about $500 doing it myself!

I had read the Softronic and segue007's

Alignment Day

Well, after a few weeks of searching, I finally found a shop to do my wheel alignment. It's a bit surprising to me how many alignment places either don't want to work on a Porsche, or (more likely) don't want to do an alignment to the owner's specs - which is what I was requesting when I called around.

Anyway, I found a shop which, while a bit more out of my way, was willing to do a "performance alignment" on my car. I gave them beez's recommended specs for a street/track

Bummer Weekend

Posted 04-02-2008 at 03:49 PM by KS-CS
I don't know how else to describe it . . . It started out well enough - my first track event of the year (known locally as HST - High Speed Touring) at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in northern Oklahoma.

Saturday was a pretty good day; the weather was a bit cold (50 F) but otherwise I enjoyed myself. I did 5 sessions with steady improvement in my times, which I thought were pretty good for running on street tires (my nearly terminal PS2s). There was a good variety of cars in my

A Mini-Makeover

I haven't been keen to modify the appearance of my Cayman with things like aero kits, wings, decals, etc. but when you hang out on C.C. for any period of time, you start to get caught up in the mod fever. So, I decided I would make a couple of subtle changes to make my CS look a little different from all the other Seal Gray Caymans out there.

I like the look of black foglight spears on other cars, because it somehow makes it look a bit more aggressive (maybe because it makes the

Anticipation and Aggravation

My first track days of the year are coming up this week-end and I have been eagerly looking forward to it. I had hoped to have some of my planned mods done ( e.g. Softronic Plenum, racing seats, track alignment) but I guess that's going to have to wait for next month (fingers crossed). At least that will give me a chance to do a little before and after testing with my lap times.

I did try to install my Mantis Fire Extinguisher mounting bracket - what a nightmare that turned out
