This will be my attempt to keep a blog on my experiences with my first ever Porsche - a Cayman S. I've dreamed of owning a Porsche, like many of you I am sure, for many years and now is my chance!
I hope to start off with a blog on my delivery experience, describing picking up my car (after a 4 month wait) in New Jersey and bringing it home to North Carolina.
After that, we'll see where the road leads me!

Break-in accomplished!
I'm actually up above 2400 miles as I am finally getting around to posting here, but break-in mileage has officially been reached!
It didn't take me long to run up into the upper ranges of the rev band and all I've got to say is: "Holy ****!!!" Wow - what a rush. (I'm sure I'm not telling many of you folks anything you don't already know, but it is an eye-opener to me.)
I've taken to telling folks the car has three sounds. Sound 1: Cruising sound, and it's actually pretty quiet. Sound 2: Normal acceleration sound, and what a great sound it is. A true symphony of whirring gears, belts and mechanical bits. Nice! Finally, there is the recently discovered Sound 3: This is the sound from 5000 rpm's and above and the only way I can describe it is "getthehelloutofthewaytheworldisendingrightnow !!!" Vision has tunneled as per the final scene of "2001: A Space Odyssey" and warp speed will clearly soon be engaged Number 2!
Yeah, so OK, I'm enjoying it. I'll stop with the exclamation points - they're even beginning to bug me. Still, that's the way it feels to me. I've simply never had this much fun driving a car - either at speed or driving around town. Now, if I can just get signed up for a DE...
And through it all I am continually impressed with the overal quality of the car and how nicely everthing seems to work. It was a lot of money, for sure, but I'm pretty much convinced it was all worth it.
One final note: According to the electronic gauge, I have only used one bar of oil (.4 liters, right?) through the break-in period. This sounds good to me, though I know many others have reported using much more. I plan on waiting for it to go down two bars - the gauge is VERY dependant on how flat the ground is - before I add any oil. I don't want to overfill.
Well, it's back to work and then back to the car. I keep dreaming up places to drive and I get a smile on my face every time I fire up the engine.

Will do!
Based on my 7000 rpm blast down the entrance ramp on my way back from lunch, I'd say I'm doing my best. ![]() |

Potomac chapter of acna will be at VIR April 20 or so. I think that there may be a wait list but it will be a lot of fun!
