This will be my attempt to keep a blog on my experiences with my first ever Porsche - a Cayman S. I've dreamed of owning a Porsche, like many of you I am sure, for many years and now is my chance!
I hope to start off with a blog on my delivery experience, describing picking up my car (after a 4 month wait) in New Jersey and bringing it home to North Carolina.
After that, we'll see where the road leads me!

First DE is coming up!
I've recently been accepted into what will be my first DE with my CS and I'm pysched!
It will be at VIR on September 5th - 7th with the Potomac Region Founders Club. I've been to schools at VIR twice in the past with my A4, but it's been several years since my last time.
It's hard to believe I have owned my CS almost 7 months now, and I'm sorry it's taken me this long to get to a DE, but life intervenes sometimes, and I'm sure this is going to be a blast.
More to come!

I took my CS to VIR Aug 2-4 on a Car Guys DE. Awesome fun. We drove the full course. Track is smooth and I was fortunate to get a very good instructor. My max speed was 132 on the back straight with a best lap of 2:33. Not bad for a stock croc running conservative lines. I ran PASM on and off and the difference was noticeable. I also ran a few laps with PSM off and wouldn't you know it, spun out on an 85 ft radius turn (Oak Tree). I learned a lot and had a great time. I waas the only CS there, but there were other Porsche types, a Ford GT-40, a Ferrari, a couple of Lotus Elises, and numerous Vettes.

For my first time out, I'm thinking I will definitely keep PASM and the PSM on. I'll see how I feel after the first day. As I say, I've been to the track before, but I still haven't solved Turn 1 or Oak Tree (and there are plenty of other places to bite you) to my satisfaction. Practice makes perfect, right?

Well Mike, I know from a poster on this board that you did indeed make it to VIR recently. I was there in April this year but that was before the CS. Do tell, how was it?

I had a great time! I'm going to get a blog post together shortly, but suffice it to say I had a whole lot of fun, learn a whole lot, and improved considerably as the weekend went on. I was by no means the fastest person out there, but I was very pleased with my progress.
I had a great instructor, met some very nice and knowledgable folks, and perhaps best of all didn't bend anything up! ![]() What little further proof I needed that the CS is the right car for me was provided. It is a fantastic and amazingly stable vehicle on the track. It saved my butt on several occasions and the rest of the time was a great tool for learning car control. |
