Today was the first day I have been able to hand wash and wax my CS (due to water restrictions in our city) since I picked it up at the end of January.

One of the things I did was to take the wheels off, wash them, and apply Wheel Wax. (As a first-time user I'm interested in seeing how well that stuff works...) Anyway, having the wheels off afforded me my first real chance to observe the artwork which is the mechanical bits of a Cayman.

For entertainment value, I thought I'd related a little experience which happened while my wife and I were traveling on I-40 West near Morganton, NC this past weekend.

I'm actually up above 2400 miles as I am finally getting around to posting here, but break-in mileage has officially been reached!

It didn't take me long to run up into the upper ranges of the rev band and all I've got to say is: "Holy ****!!!" Wow - what a rush. (I'm sure I'm not telling many of you folks anything you don't already know, but it is an eye-opener to me.)

I've used the word SMOOTH to describe my CS many times, but I've got to say with almost 1400 miles now on the ODO it just keeps getting better and better.

As I've noted before, there are not enough O's in SMOOOOOOTH to describe this car.

I also continue to be impressed with the fit and finish, and thought and workmanship that went into designing and building the car. Honestly, I expected it to be very nice, but the more I look at the details, the more I like it. ...

My CS saw 1000 miles on the odometer last night, so I decided to celebrate with a quick blast to 5000 rpms (I've been trying to be good about this break-in thing).

I was only there for a few seconds in second gear, but I'm still smiling about it some 18 hours later...
